Best Permalinks Structure for SEO

Choosing Best Permalinks Structure for SEO is really a tough and confusing job for most of the bloggers so i have come with what i have learned from my blogging experience. You may get so many tips for optimizing permalinks structure over internet but here is best which works without any bad consequences.

Before jumping onto the best structure for permalinks lets have a look on what other blogs and websites suggest.

  • Most of the blogs suggests you to use just “/%post_name%/” after the domain name.

I won’t say that they suggested you bad permalinks structure but I’ll say its not the best one that i will be sharing in this article. The problem with this permalink structure is that it brings you “Duplicate Content” problem that you will never want to face.

For example if you had already posted an article named “Top 10 Website Hosting Providers” in any year lets say you posted in 2012 and you made another article regarding the same Hosting Providers in 2013 with updated rankings and you mistakenly gave the same title name then it would be considered as Duplicate Content.

So its not the best choice what they have suggested you. Better you check the following one that would not give you any problem.

  • Use “/%post_id%/%post_name%/“.

Yes this is what i am using and it works great without any problem and Google loves it and for sure your content is gonna ranked higher if you are using it. I hope this SEO tips will help many!

  1. Yes I agreed your reference of duplicate title issue. But last time when I changed my permalink then all of my existing links was not working. I was receiving 404 error when try to access those old links. So is there any other solution to change permalink without any issue
